Best locations for subwoofer in SAN 220?

So, I'm deciding on upgrading my factory 10 inch subwoofer to something more powerful. However, I need some ideas on where I can go about installing this sub. Of course, I can keep it in the factory location, in the place of the cooler, but then, I have no cooler. Not that this is a huge issue - can always place the cooler in the bow of the boat since we generally only use the cooler once stopped. Still though, any other ideas? Say, I'd like to install two subwoofers in the boat. Any ideas on where I can mount them? Thanks!

So I've been looking around the boat, thinking of ideas on mounting two subs. I'm still considering the idea of two really...I know 1 can be mounted in the place of the cooler. No problem at all. That entire area measures just at 3 feet long and about 20 inches wide with some space for an amplifier or two. I'm trying to think of where I could mount one more sub. The subs require a minimum of at least 1.3 cf of space. Thats about 15-15.5 inches, as a sealed box. The ported box will require around 22.5 inches to 15 inches wide (this would work fine in the place of the cooler). I'm thinking however, of putting one at the drivers feet. The only thing is, I'm afraid too much space will be taken, and there won't be enough room for taller drivers. I can't really think of any other places. The storage compartments are long and have plenty of space, but they're quite narrow. The only other place I could think is in the rear on each side of the engine compartment. Issue is though, unless the sub in this compartment is rediculously loud, it'll just be drowned out by the engine noise, which is pretty pointless.

      FLAUDIA402,

We’ve installed dual 10-inch woofers under the driver’s helm console. We used Boston Acoustics drivers because they require only a half cubic foot per driver (one cu. ft. total). Look at Boston Acoustics G2, G3 or G5 10-inch models.

Do you have a picture of this? How did you mount them? A 1.3 cu. ft. box is about 15.5 inches all the way around...this would certainly fit under the driver helm however taller drivers might have to place their feet elsewhere. I do find however, placing 1 10/12 in this place would be quite nice, as it would flow into the cabin perfectly.

There isn't much room elsewhere, and I think that unless the boat is turned off and beached, any subwoofers in the rear compartments would be drowned out by engine noise.

Would be interest in seeing pictures of what you end up doing, and of someone who has mounted another sub around the drivers area.

Too I run a 220 (2006), and am thinking about adding another sub, and my perfered option is in the back two corner lockers, backing onto the transom, as there is tons of space in them, and hardly put anything in them.
