I'm in LA this week and wanted to go visit the boat show so I looked the exhibitors and ran across this. Scarab jet boats with wake towers. Very weird and look like sea doo drive trains. A bit strange and thought I would share

The go fast performance segment has been absolutely murdered since 2008, hasnt event started a partial recovery like whats been seen in wake, fishing, and a few others. They are desperate. Performance 3-4 x 350-575hp outboard center consoles have been the only thing growing in that area. The Miami Vice thing of two muscles dudes in tank tops with gold chains and sunburns from the 80s doesnt appeal to or impress folks anymore. All those guys are past or nearing their 60s. Price of gas, entry barrier cost to participate, and 1ton+ tow rig, $300-$500/hr shop rates for mechanic work on tweaked out finicky prone to break down engines has sealed their fate.
We've got Scarab trying to compete with Yamaha jet boats... and then weve got Baja putting Suzuki outboards on their 24ft performance boats. Desperate.
