Best aerator pumps...

The cheapest I've seen are the attwood 750's from wallmart... but they are big and don't got over 1000gph. The rule pumps are pretty nice but expensive. I have a Mayfair pump that is very nice but I can't seem to buy them anywhere. Any suggestions?

Atwoods prime a lot better than Mayfair. I have a Mayfair in my boat (friend's pump) that I can't stand. It's a little quicker than the atwoods, but it's a pain in the *** to prime and keep primed. The Atwood Tsunami 1200 is supposed to be pretty good, but it's $35 instead of $19.22 like the A750.

Item #456268 on allaboutboating says it is a bilge pump... There is no picture available to see if it has two threaded ends. What about the rule pumps. They have an 1100GPH that is much smaller than the Attwood.

Mikeski... thanks a lot. Now my next question is how ghetto would it be if I spliced this pump off the power to my stock pumps so I can use the stock switches. Do you think i'd blow breakers if both were running at the same time??

You can probably run these if the stock wires are big enough, I don't know what size the wiring is off the top of my head. This winter I plan to upsize my belly tank fill and drain pumps but I have not done it yet. The stock breakers in my 1995 handled enough current to run the Simer pumps which draw substantially more than most aerators. If the wires get warm or if the fuse blows then you should upsize the pumps power wires, the stock switch will most likely handle the current. If the switch gets warm then you will need to change it as well.

That is what I figured too. I'll give it a try and report back. If I start blowing breakers I'll do it a little more professional. I just would like to keep it on the stock switches. The only drawback will be the stock tanks filling before the sacs.. not a big deal there though.

Ballast Pump Change

I have an 2004 SAN, with two wedges and belly ballast tanks. I was thinking of upgrading both the fill and empty pumps, probably fill more than empty. Can you keep us aware of how yours goes?
