I am looking at buying a hyper late broadcast surfboard off of a guy. does anybody know if that would be a good board for my family to get started surfing on?

I have one that we started on. It's an older model and will work but not as easy as a big surf style board. We had a ronix caption that my son at 8 years old up to me at 200 lbs rode pretty easy.

It's a pretty good starter board in my opinion. If you can get it for a good deal I would jump on it.Shawn

Any of the potential riders much over 200 lbs? If not I'd go for the smaller one as it will be more fun to ride. The bigger one will be easier to catch the wave, especially for bigger people.Shawn

For what it's worth, my son, 13yrs old, 95 lbs. tried the broadcast, landlock, and the shim behind a G23. He preferred the shim over the other two. Felt like it was more of a "crossover" style that works better behind our boat with a smaller wake. Was hard doing an honest demo behind a G when your wake is half the size, but he seems pleased with his choice.

The broadcast is a great starter board. I would recommend the 5'6" one though. It might be a little big the kids, but can be used by all the adults. Its more durable than the more expensive fiberglass boards. It can really take a beating and plus it is thin enough to fit most wakeboard board racks.
