    surf board for big guy

Hey guys I am in the market for a surf board, only bad part is I weigh 240. So any surf enthusiasts, or other big dudes currently surfing, throw me some ideas on what you ride.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

Just beware, this will be a pretty difficult board to ride for a while. I have a Ronix Stage and it was difficult to learn to ride on. They're very slow boards and you have to have a pretty good wave to surf with. Not like the smaller, faster boards that you can make work on anything.

Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to be able to ride a smaller fast board, but trust me I sink them rather quickly. Its not the first time riding by the way, I have looked into grindwaters boards, ginsu and mauka, do you know anything of those?

I go 215-220 I have an Endless Break and A Island Surfer Blue. I have no problem with either. If you are going to the White Lake mini reunion you can try both .

I was 250 lbs. last summer. I have a 211 with about 1700 lbs. I have tried a number of boards. I currently ride a Calibrated which is skim style and is 57". I am am amazed I can ride it. I also have ridden several Walker Project boards. The 5'1" Bazooka is a great board. Inland Sufer Swallow is also a very fun board. I just sold that one this fall. Soul craft makes custom stuf that is great. California Marine Sport has a 5' with a swallow tail that is a great board.

Yea I have checked out the walker bazooka board, that it is definitely a possibility. Thanks for all the other ideas on boards, I am continuing to hear about and find new custom board companies. Cant find much on calibrated or soulcraft, any insight on that?

                        Inland Surfer

Check out the Inland Surfer web site; they have (or had) a board finder where you enter in your stats and it helps you find the board for you. I would guess for 250 it would be the Red Woody first, then the Blue Lake, or the Swallow. I push 2bills and have loved the Blue Lake Quad -- but thinking about the next board, too.

Calibrated is in Discovery Bay Ca. He now makes them by himself. They are skim style boards. Soulcraft is in Idaho. His boards are very nice. Il'll see if I can find contact information for either. Soulcraft boards are light and he will build them anyway you want.

California Marine Sports have a few boards from each that they are discounting.
