    Need Rope Help!

I was wondering if there is a real noticable advantage to having a good non stretch wakeboard rope? I don't want to spend however much money on a good rope if the cheap ones work. Im not a good rider by any means, just jumping the wake pleases me. Just curoius anyways, thanks!

I think it does help. You dont have to go buy a $100 rope and an expensive handle though.

Look for some cheaper combos that are non stretch instead of stuff sold seperately. There are many packages anywhere from $50 to $120 dollars that would all be pretty good ropes. Some of the more expensive ones come in longer lengths which most of dont need (Like 85-90 feet).

The non-stretch rope is really something you have to have for wakeboarding. Think of it this way, a slalom rope is meant to stretch so when a skier pulls out around a buoy the rope adds a little help, they can pull and the rope stretches, they let the tension off a little bit and the rope recoils. So now think of you jumping the wake. You go up the wake and have the handle pulled to you and then at some point you're going to let the tension off a little bit and that rope is going to recoil and pull you forward. Maybe for some a they can't tell the difference in the ropes but using a good non-stretch rope, to me, really takes away a lot of hard falls that could be avoided/less intense if the rope wasn't adding to the energy for the fall.

Just my two cents, and this is what was explained to me when I was wondering about the difference.

Like highrock said, you can normally find a good combo without spending a ton.

      Hope this is helpful

        Look for used rope

Non Stretch line really helps in wakeboarding. I would look at ski it again or Ebay. There is always somebody that has to have the latest or has sold their boat. you should be able to get a good line for around $50.00

You definitely need a non-stretch line in order to load the line correctly when jumping the wake, etc. I just saw on eBay an Accurate chamois handle and A-line combo for $89. That is a great deal and is one of the best handle and lines out there.

A non-stretch wakeboard specific rope and wider (than a slalom) handle will make a huge difference.

I didn't think I noticed a difference with ropes untill I broke the brand new handle and grabbed the old rope. It felt like I was using a bungee cord! crazy difference! But not impressed on the handle! bomb proof my oats....
