Seeking ideas to keep sun away from back of boat while sitting on boat lift

Can't do that. There's only so much cable room on the lift. Lifting it that hight will pinch the cable and dump your Nautique in a not-so-graceful way.

As another thought, folding your tower and cranking the boat up tight to the underside of the roof may get it out of the direct sunlight

I'm ordering! Figure I can order the one for the back and test it out. That's a pretty cheap trial.

Yep. Works like a champ. All you need is some pipe insulation from Lowes and you're good to go. It's an inexpensive way to keep the sun off and you don't have to modify your cover.

I had a custom skirt added to my cover as others have suggested, it includes a flap that covers the transom of the boat. I already have a cover for just the platform so the flap covers the other gel coat areas. My dealer had a person that did this for them.

I have tried blinds and rollup shades the past 6 years to protect the back our boats while they sit on the two boat lifts we have. Nothing seems to hold up well so I'm asking PN members what are you using to protect your boat from UV rays while your boat sits on a lift? I do cover my boat religiously but the back of the boat is directly positioned to the West.

I would prefer not to buy two roll up doors that is rated to sustain wind so send me ideas on what's working for you. Our dock is permanent with a covered roof and 6x6 pilings.

Ideas please.

This is a permanent boat dock with a metal roof. I have some permanent screens covering the sides. One the boathouse opening of the slip is where I need an idea on how to get sun protection. I have used a roll up shade but the plastic chain drive system falls apart very quickly. Basically I am looking for something that rolls up, willl last for many years and less than the cost to install a rollup style door system

Are you talking just the direct back or the sides too? What you could do is get a skirt custom made that attaches to your current cover. Or have a little piece that attaches to the rear deck and goes around the platform to keep the sun off from above the platform.

what size canopy do you have? If you move it back far enough it should cover the back of the boat.
