SNMike, IIRC they still use the same hull-hugger muffler now that they did in 98. Now if you're talking about Ford engine noise vs. Chevy, then right on! The GT40 has a different noise to it for sure- maybe it's just me.
That would be correct M3! The Vortec vs. the GT40. Also, in 02 CC implemented the Novidamp system in the boats, that's the good part. The GT40 just has a meaner sound hands down, IMVHO.

BTW Doug, I vacuum the carpert EVERY time out. Always have. Only takes a few minutes, keeps it looking showroom new. However, If I could get my hands on matching carpet runners, they I could ease off with the craziness. SOMEBODY HELLLLP!! Yellow_Flash_Colorz:
Call Mike McKenzie at MC of Charlotte. The snap in carpet they offer for the MCs is contracted out. I'm sure they could work something up a 196 if you can't get that sort of thing from CC or a CC dealer. Mike is really great to work with in my experience.

As for the craziness, it helps me that my boat has a little age. I can only imagine what I'd be like if it was brand new. Probably a good thing that my carpet knap is a bit flattened out.

Thank you sir, I will. I treat all my cars, Nautiques, whatever, like that from day one.

It's a lot of work, but worth it in pride.............and resale.

Yep, even at idle the GT40 just sounds like it means business.

            very nice boat.

Great looking boat!! I might be a little bias though. I am having the same trouble with the matted carpet. Are they any tricks to restoring the fluff? This is a pic of mine at the dealer when i went to pick it up. I am in love with it.

              That's a real beauty!

I've heard two tips on revitilizing the carpet nap (sp).

              1. Hose it down with fabric softener and water mixture, let it sit for 10 minutes and rinse well.

              2. Work the knap with a brass wire brush while cleaning.

I've done number 1 and results were not ideal. That is to say that it smelled wonderful, but the carpet nap was not as fluffy as when new. I was not very liberal with the downy though. Next spring, I'm going to try 1 & 2 together when I clean the carpet and use a lot more fabric softener.

I have heard/read that taking a power washer to the carpet can bring the carpet back. You just need to be careful and not bring the power washer to close to the carpet nap. I tried this once it seemed to work pretty well, I did a mix of carpet shampoo and hot water scrubbed it on the carpet then used the power washer on the carpet, waited for the water to turn clear as it ran out the back. I was told this trick a few years ago by West Coast C.C.
