On the upper in the river portion I would cruise it slow a few times but if you stay in the channel you will be OK. If you venture out to the lake...good luck, the depth can change a lot and there are a lot of stumps underwater...you would be OK at the dam side though but the water is usually rough. There is some good water up the Huffman side of the lake but it can be tricky to get to it but you might be the only ones up there!!!

I have been reading about The USJ River in one of our local Wakeboarding Assoc Forums and it sounds like it is getting mighty busy on that part of the river. I think we will take the boat over there to check things out but it sound slike the spot is packed as it is.
I think I would like to check out lake houston also. I understand I will have to carefule over there also.

The original owner of my boat bought it at Buxton Marine (new back in 94). I purchased it from him in Houston. We took it out on Lake Conroe, which is the worst lake I've ever been on. The weather was bad that day. It was cold, choppy, windy, and rainy when I test drove the boat. I couldn't find any area to get it up to a good speed. The lake seems so open for wakeboarding. I've never been on the lake any other time, so my opinion is biased.Previous:

I test drove my old MC on Lake Conroe in February 2003. Conditions sound like they haven't changed much.1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.

That was the beauty of buying a boat in February. Had the dealership and lake all to myself. The hard part, of course, was getting the boat home and waiting another month before I could get my wife to put on a sweat shirt and pull me around the lake.1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.

if you are looking for smooth water 95% of the time go to the Trinity River off Highway 19 in Huntsville the best fresh water riding in Houston and you might only see 5-6 other boats all day and only 1-2 will be ski/wakeboard boats.

I moved away in 2001, so I may be a little out of the loop, but is Houston claiming Huntsville as a suburb now? I like the sound of those numbers though.1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.

I live and work in Pearland and take a boat up to Trinity at least 2-3 times a month which is a 3 hour round trip because the water is so good and the river isn't over crowded. even when GCWA has an event out there you can find your own water.
here are some pics from a August 26

Hey Derrick! Is the water deep in most areas of the Trinity? Stumps? Do you launch at Bethy Creek?

The water is pretty deep I either Launch at Bethy Creek and take the Canal into the actual river(if you don't know the way don't try it without someone who does.), or we just Launch beside the highway 19 bridge(recommended until someone shows you the dangers going to bethy).
All you really have to worry about is when it floods in Dallas a lot of Trash floats down the river other than that the Alligators that is all you got to worry about.
If you want to launch at Bethy Creek Talk to Randall and he will tell you where to and not to go. You might even be able to talk him into a Surf set.
If you ever see us down there hit us up for a Ride, We are always in New NAUTIQUES we are the Dealer for Houston.

Yeah, I know who you are. You demoed my wife, daughter, and I in the 06 Sanger behind the shop. I would have bought a CC from you if you had one at the time. Thanks for all the help. Is the ramp under 19 safe for tow vehicles?

You don't really have to worry about them. I haven't seen or heard of any getting broken in to and we have had some really nice ones parked there all day.
