2023 G23 Teak Swim Platform with Swim Step

Hey all - I don’t post on here often, but enjoy reading through all of the various discussions. That said, I figured I would share a project I just wrapped up on our 2023 G23, in case it sparks anybody else’s creativity.

I’ve always been a fan of teak swim platforms and love the way they can make a boat look (shame Nautique doesn’t offer them anymore…). So, back in February, I set out to make this idea a reality (but with a twist). After several months of trial and error, I finally got the platform built exactly the way I want and was able to mount a swim step on it from Joe with SternStep (https://ebay.us/m/be3is7 - amazing product, by the way!).

Anyway… just sharing the completed project with you all.

That is awesome. Very nice work.
Are the notches on the edges purely aesthetic or do they serve a purpose?

Mostly aesthetic. The original platform 'footprint' was used as the template for this one, so most of the original lines were preserved.

You've got some hours into that, very well done, one of a kind. That ladder looks solid @ $500 + bones.
I will say I like my cup holders on the OG deck, they do get used, and the low profile of the factory ladder, and for climbing into the back when on the trailer. Maybe the step up on your SternStep isn't as far up as it looks, might even be a little easier because of the way it hangs out. What's the chance of busted up shins on the swim in (didn't know/forgot it was there), do you suppose. I guess time will tell...
          Good work!

Yea - I tried to figure a way of adding in the cupholders, but just couldn’t get it to look right. Aside from just hole-sawing some in the rear, but I opted against. Oh well…
Time will definitely tell on how practical this setup is and if that SternStep is everything I hope it is (seems well built and really easy to use, but it definitely doesn’t extend as far down into the water as the ladder… and it has a much larger profile as you pointed out). Let’s just say, I’ll keep my old platform in the storage unit just in case

              Looks great!
Love that stern step, for me it would be way more practical than a ladder.
