Finally got out onto the lake for the weekend

It was awesome. Being new to boating in general I had some anxiety about everything. But once I figured out where my slip was, practiced docking and organized everything with my kids it all went great. I even talked my kids into getting off the tubes an onto the knee board. Next step will be a wake board.

The learning to dock thing was literally a matter of not being timid about it. If you try to go to slow, you have no control of the boat. When I figured this out I docked it a few times in the slip and up along side of a regular dock without issue. Still need a lot of practice but I'm feelilng a lot better about it.

Thanks to everyone here for all the great info. Has helped tremendously.

Here are some pics of the weekend

Beautiful boat. Glad you’re getting it figured out. Is that a 210 or 220. I’m a sucker for blue, but either way a great ride. Enjoy the summer.

      Its a 220

I went out again this long weekend for a 3 days and thankfully it ran flawlessly.

One thing I'm trying to figure out is how to maximize my speed in slightly choppy waters. I end up coming off the plain and going like 12-15 mph to avoid the banging but I see other boats flying by. Maybe its the hull design of a wake boat? I love it when its settles down and I can cruise 25-35 with some bursts up to 40. Am I just being to careful?

Your boat can definitely handle more of a beating in the chop than you can, but these boats generally don't ride as smoothly as a sterndrive, for sure. They're more like 1-ton trucks compared to the average mid-sized mall-cruising SUV.
