    1997 Sport

    Good Morning All,
New to the forum and wanted to share our boat plus a few photos of the first trip out this year. We have been doing little maintenance odds and ends this year, but still have been on the water enjoying a few beautiful days. First Nautique and family owned since 2005.

Love seeing everyone's boats here and families enjoying the water. Great forum, very informative. Now I just need to stay away from the classifieds.

    Thanks,

Started working on the stereo last night. Nothing special, just a direct replacement of the factory system this year.

    Sony MEX-M70BT head unit
    Sony XS-MP1611 6-1/2" speakers

No love for the new guy? No worries, I'll keep posting...

New head unit wired in last night and the one speaker under the dash. I believe I will be rear mounting all (3) others, but have not decided yet. Seen it done both ways on here, but like the original look with the hidden speakers and don't think it will affect the sound quality. Any advise?

Windshield support replacement next as well as a fresh water flush setup, oil change, cleaning, and then back out on the lake for vacation.

Great looking Sport and family! My 2.5 year old daughter loves our boat and it almost always puts her to sleep in the afternoon. We call it taking a "snooze cruise" haha.

Have you bought a fresh water flush kit yet? If not you can make your own with parts readily available from a good hardware store which I think is an improvement over the ones you can buy and it is cheaper. http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum...01-after-10yrs

Thank you. I remember as a kid always falling asleep on my parents boats and feel really blessed to raise my kids the same way. I have to remember snooze cruse. That's a good one.

Thanks for the link. I did not buy a kit, and was envisioning doing something similar to what is shown. Having a visual is very helpful!

Boat looks great and it's awesome to see the kids growing up on the boat and enjoying skiing. Good work on the stereo update. Are you in the know on the proper oil for that Flat Tappet GT-40?? You should also post your story & pics over at CCFan and check out that site as well, lot's of good info there on the GT-40.

Thanks, I have been browsing CCfan recently, but haven't signed up yet or posted. The da** classifieds get me all the time. Looking to add a clean 85/86 2001 to the garage in the near future. As far as the oil goes, I've been using either a straight 40 or 10/50 both non-synthetic. Haven't had any issues in the past. Any different suggestions?

Flag me down sometime. Always fun meeting new people on the lake.

Valvoline VR1 20/50 or Mobil 1 (iirc) seems to be 2 favored oils. ZDDP amounts are critical and very few oils contain it anymore. Do some searches here and CCFan for ZDDP or GT-40 oil, should give you plenty of reading.

Thanks for the information. Now ready for the oil change this weekend.

The picture of your son brings back memories. I raised my boy on my 99 Ski Nautique. I used to keep the observers seat in the up position to keep him in the shade. No Bimini back then. Next time you're in Martins cove, run all the way in, last set of docks. Have a 2012 Ski 200. Say hello!

The things we do in order to stay on the water with little kids...

Maybe we will see ya on the water some day. We are back near Ledgedale.

A nice productive weekend. Unfortunately not on the water... Getting ready for our Raystown Lake vacation in less than 2 weeks.

                              - Finished the speaker installation
                              - Rewired battery connections
                              - Replaced (1) windshield support (need a second to match)
                              - New trailer jack and boat hook
                              - Water flush setup installed
                              - Fresh Oil Change
                              - Cleaned intake

All that's left to do for now is to deep clean the carpets, vinyl, and giver her a good coat of wax.
