    New to me SV211TE

This summer my wife and I moved up to Northern VA and ended up living on the water. After watching all our neighbors go out every weekend, and being invited by some who were gracious enough to let us ski/board behind a 25 foot deck boat... (always appreciate a pull, but wow...!)... we've finally bought our first boat. Found it on this forum, so I figured this would be the best place to make some introductions. I grew up as a slalom skier behind a 80's Supra T6 Comp and Ski Supreme, then transitioned to a ProStar 209. Still hit the course occasionally (32mph @ 15 off) and surf and board with my wife, too - I think the SV211 is going to be the perfect boat!

The previous owner already put in the green impeller blades, it's an 06 so it has the jabsco pumps, but not the relocation to the rear, dual batteries, and pretty much every other option that could be checked. Best news - fits in my garage with the tower up (by an inch!)... see the pics and the go-pro behind the pylon to help me 'spot' the clearance.

I agree Welcome to the 211 club!

And I'm very jealous of that garage! Do you have the depth to not remove the platform or fold the tongue? I'm at the other end of the spectrum... fully folded / lowered and nose first I rub my way past the door.

So I can actually fit the whole thing in, as the garage is technically a 4 car and is about 40 feet deep, and that tall or taller the whole way back. With the platform off and the tongue folded, I *think* I can put my car in front of the boat. So the garage instead of being 4 wide, is a 2 wide and a 2 deep.

So back right will be the boat all folded up for winter, but with the tower still up. Front right will hopefully be my car, back left is my work shop area, front left is the wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee (tow vehicle).

:-) I am very happy with mine! I had previously owned a 2001 Sunsetter LXI and a 2005 MC X2, but really loved the wake and layout of a couple of friends 211's. So, when the chance came for me to buy another boat, it was a simple decision. I had actually looked at that very boat, but ended up finding the '07 I own now.

Oh and DAMMMMM!! that is an impressive garage!! I am with Ski in that I fold the tower down, crank the trailer all the way down and still hit the rubber gasket to the garage door. This is just to get it in and then I have to use gojacks to get it angled in the garage correctly!

What are these "gojacks" you speak of? Also, the trailer is a tandem boatmate... It doesn't seem to want to move by hand, even with 3 people pushing it, are the brakes somehow locked?

I have to swing the rear of the trailer once its in the garage. I have a standard 2 car garage, but I have a hot water heater and the stairs in the house that project out into the garage to navigate around. So I back the boat up as far as I can, un-hook it, lower the tower, lower the front jack and push it back until I have to pivot it, jack up the rear trailer tire wheels with the jacks, pivot it and push it back the last 3 feet. It sounds complicated, but we have it down to about 15 minutes start to finish. The actual "gojacks" are about $350/pair... at 80/each I can destroy many HF jacks... and this is a temp house since I am in the military :-)

Being difficult to push can be one of a few things, the master cylinder is still compressed, actuating the brakes, or the brakes are dragging due to a brake caliper or master cylinder being shot. I realized when I was towing the boat home from Maryland the brakes were shot. I jacked the trailer up, pulled the wheels off and found the piston had rusted to the caliper body and was dragging on 2 of the 4 wheels. Being almost 8 years old, I wasn't too surprised about the brake issues and it is a super nice aluminum I-beam trailer. I replaced all the components I could on the trailer, hubs, bearings, disc assembly, brake calipers and lines for about $500 bucks. I now know the status of them and feel pretty confident in the trailer mechanical condition.

That makes sense - I towed the boat home from South Carolina to Northern VA, and didn't have any issues so I'm pretty sure the brakes and everything are good to go - above 70mph was a little sketchy so I basically did 65mph the whole way home, but that was more due to a shortish wheelbase tow vehicle than anything else, in my opinion, and my lack of towing experience. Hopefully there will be only one time a year that it'll leave the house, but the dock hasn't been started yet so who knows how long that will be.

You mentioned military - where are you based at? I'm not military but I'm quite close to Quantico - wasn't sure if you were up this way or not... (Thanks for the service, btw!)

Mine was always hard to push, I thought it might be the brakes or the bearings but I found the culprit when I replaced the overly expensive Fulton F2 jack with another overly expensive F2 jack that was beginning to fail due to lack of ability to lubricate it regularly.

....side note the new jack has a hole in the back of it to sort of squeeze some grease near the screw and instructions that if it wasnt there to go ahead and drill a hole so you can lubricate it since they left out that necessary function in their top of the line model so they could pretend it was maintenance free...

After putting on the new jack I didn't think twice about pulling on the bow when I got up and luckily the garage door was closed, I can push it around pretty easy now. Turns out the plastic wheel on the original jack is square shaped inside where it fits loosely on the slightly bent bolt/axle. It took comparing it to a new one to see the difference since it turned all right with no weight on it, if I had known that I would have replaced it earlier. I assume that it got damaged moving the boat around with the forklift before I got it.

I have a question regarding the "green" impeller blades and the Jabsco pumps. I recently purchased an 05 211 and I am unaware of an issue with the pumps. (Mine all work well) Did I miss something when I was looking at these boats? What can you all tell me about any potential problems I should look for?

I am pretty sure in 04 they were using aereator style pumps, I dont know if 05 was the cut-over year from aereator to the impeller type pumps. If yours has the impeller style Jabsco the yellow/green impeller was just a switch on the type of material. A long time ago they came with black rubber ones, but they leaked by, so they changed the material and made yellow impellers, and those were an improvement, but eventually made ones out of green rubber that are supposedly superior to the yellow and black ones. If yours work, I wouldn't worry about it, but when you go to buy spares you will get green ones. http://www.nautiqueparts.com/impellerballastpump.aspx I have two as spares on the boat. Hope this helps.

Skunk, I am in the Navy down in Charleston, SC. I am a Navy Nuke Officer, but I started enlisted in '94, hence the screen name.
