2005 Super Air Nautique... new owner with a lot of winter projects

Hey everyone. Just thought I'd post up my "upgrade" I made at the end of the season. I picked up an 05 SAN locally recently and have been tearing it apart ever since. Right now it has 250 hrs on it and plan on doubling that in the next few seasons!

Before I hit the water in a few months, here's what I have going on:
    • Remove tower, powdercoat black
    • Powdercoat all tower accessories black
    • Install REV10s (from my Barefoot)
    • Add RGB LED rings to the REV10s
    • Rewire stereo for 3 amps and fuse block
    • HEAVY clean on the carpet
    • Install Fresh Air Exhaust
    • Still looking at possible options for a surf system (DIY NSS, Moomba's Flow, etc.)

Here's what it looked like when I picked it up:

Took the decals off (still need to replace the blue pin striping with black:

    Tower is stripped

Windshield and tower off gettin' werk'd

Had to get a ton of holes welded shut on the tower from the original bimini install and tower speaker holes that were no longer needed.

So here is everything welded, and I just hauled everything to the powdercoater a few days ago so I should have it back next week sometime.

I'll do my best to keep this updated. Anyone that is interested in giving some advice - I've been trying to decide for the past week to either A) powdercoat windshield frame same as tower B) powdercoat it a more satin finish, or C) try to get it annodized black (not sure if that is a realistic option, but it has to be prepped just like powdercoating, right?)

Anyway, thanks for checking it out.

Nice boat!! It was for sale on here. Did you ever think about just taking the pinstripe off and leaving it all white?

I thought about that. I guess I could photoshop it off and see what I think. I don't want to actually take the pin striping off unless I'm sure I don't want it because I figure it makes for a good guideline to reapply another color stripe.

Great looking boat! I think powder coating the windshield black to match the tower would look great.

Are you planning to sell the bimini or just switching up how it is mounted? Let me know if you are planing to sell and maybe we can work something out.

The black chromax decals would look good on there if your doing a black tower. http://www.nautiqueparts.com/blackch...rnautique.aspx

Do you know if those are flat black? Looks like it in the picture, and I've never seen one in person. It would look pretty clean but it would probably make me want a flat black tower if the chromax is

Haven't decided on the bimini yet, but I will definitely keep you in mind.

It says they are black chrome so I would imagine they are glossy. Someone on here with them should be able to chime in.

You might do some research on this forum regarding powder coating the windshield. Sometimes the thickness of the powder coating makes it more difficult to reassemble. I recall one guy having his powder coater prevent the coating from being applied to the inside edges of the windshield as well as the surfaces that need to be reassembled. He indicated that this method allowed him to reassemble the windshield.

Have your powder coater use apply a ultra violet finish coat so the powder coating does not fade fast in the sun.

Do you plan to barefoot with this boat? If you buy a barefoot boom for this boat, I would be interested what kind of boom you buy. I have considered buying a boom for my 2005 SANTE, I have not purchased anything yet.

My powder coater is going to mask off the track for the glass. With the powdercoat and tint, that glass probably wouldn't fit in that track. So hopefully the masking works ok and doesnt end up looking weird. He's confident it'll turn out good.

I don't plan to barefoot on this boat right now. I do have a boom for my BFN, but don't think it would work on this boat.

They are shiny, think more chrome with a 80% black tint... I have a bad picture I can attach, they have a clear coating on top that was peeling off on one side of my boat. I would take a better picture but after having them replaced the letters are falling off after first use so its back at the shop again. They go well with a gloss black tower.
