Early 80's Barefoot (i think)

I have just got this boat and the guy a brought it from thought it was from the early 90's but I think it is more like early 80's. It’s a 7.4 Chevy pleasurecraft. It needs a few things doing to it like some new carpet and a steering wheel. The seats with get redone if I get a chance and I will do away with the single passenger seat and put a backwards-facing bench seat in. The engine seems in great condition and there is no hull damage, the only thing now is I am counting the days until some better weather gets here.

How much do you think it is worth? as i am not sure if i paid over the top for it.

Brad_K, it looks like a '79. Look on the transom at the top right corner (by gas cap) and the last 2 letters stamped on the HIN should be the year. I believe this was the first year for the Barefoot Nautique, you've got a classic! I would guess it's worth, depending on condition and location, anywhere between $4k-$7k.

No doubt a creative and "custom" motor cover there. Definately not OEM! I'd say the same about all the seats, including the rear. Non factory pylon which seems scary. I agree with Hollywood on the approximate vintage.

Brad, also remember to add about 30% to any american prices you are given. over here in the UK we pay quite a bit more....

so $7k = £3,888, in boat terms - £5,000 roughly.

I have had a look on the plate and it turns out it is an 80. I have decided to completely redo the interior from scratch to try and up-date it a bit. Is there any thing I need to be careful of?

M3Fan - I think the pole is from the factory I had a close look and it looks pretty original to me, the smaller pole on the engine cover is just to hold the cover up and stop water collecting, it folds down flat against the engine cover when you are not using it.

Nice boat Brad, i am looking to get an older Nautique to add to my collection, i'm the guy that told you about a MC ProComp for sale.

Are you using it on Salt or Fresh Water ??

It has been used on salt by it previous owner but i think i will be sticking to lakes mainly, i may have the odd day here and there on the salt.
