I believe that the majority of the pieces of the impellar are on the dock where I left them after cleaning out the housing. There was a lot of it still in the houseing. I'll back flush it soon, as the season is winding down.

On another related note, has anybody every put an inline filter to prevent pieces from going into the transmission cooler? Seems a simple enough thing to do....

ouch typically the pp is factory installed 95% of the time while we use lock washers built into the nuts you should probably check your gauges and other items at least once a year as the boat does get beat up by the sports we play in.

Trans cooler? I believe my trans cooler is before the raw water pump, not sure on the new boat but it was for sure on my older boat. Check the hoses. My failed impeller blades ended up in the thermostat cover on my old boat (until I replaced the leaking strainer that killed 3 impellers one summer).

I had something similar happen to me as Chad52 above. I have a newly purchased 2006 Air Nautique 210 and still getting used to it. Due to a busy ramp and it being a new (to us) boat, I didn't shut off engine when pulling it out of water. It ran for about 30-45 seconds as we pulled it out of water and up ramp. We stopped less than a minute later off to side at top of ramp and I shut it off. I didn't see the temp gauges to see if they were hot or not. Thoughts? Would impeller get burned up in less than a minute? It was brand new and had been replaced less than a month ago. New to the forum, thanks in advance!

Yes, it can burn up that quickly. Since the engine was at idle, it could have survived. But the only way to really know is to check it. You want to check it before running the boat again because if it did come apart, the pieces will be in the pump housing instead of scattered in the cooling system since there was no moving water. If you run it in water again before checking, then you risk scattering the pieces of the impeller into the cooling system.
