My Trialer lights arent working when I turn the lights on, but brake lights work. I am wondering if it is wiring or something in my truck?

RE: Trailer lights
Check the fuses. I had the same problem, and I had to replace the turn signal fuses that were located under the hood of my engine compartment. I have an 06 Nissan Armada, depending on your car it may be in your main fuse panel or under the hood. Did you install your hitch/electronics aftermarket or were they a stock option? Good luck

I also had a similar problem. My dodge likes to eat trailer parking light fuses.2016 SAN 210

RE: Re: RE: Trailer lights
I cannot, my trailer has an electric brake lockout tied to the reverse lights. If I unplug them, I cannot back my trailer up.the WakeSlayer

RE: Re: RE: Trailer lights
Also check the ground. Older trailers especially start getting rust where the lights mount to the trailer and you can get weird behaviors like one side blinking brighter than the other, or the blinkers turning the running light off, etc. Doesn't sound like the case here, but it's easy enough to check.2001 Ski Nautique / 2007 SV211 TE (gone but not forgotten)

RE: Re: RE: Trailer lights
Nope. I leave my lights on. While I'm wiping down the boat after I've pulled her up, I'll take a dry towel and give the parts a wipedown, though. Did your stock wires ever work, or did they suddenly stop working? Nissan installed my hitch/wiring assembly after I bought the car..when they were cleaning it for delivery and never bothered to put the running light fuses in. After replacing my dingy old wiring harness off my 1996 Pacific Trailer, I realized it wasn't the trailer or the harnesses. Come to find out they never even put fuses in. Consult your GMC owners manual or take it to the dealer and let them figure it out. Hope you figure it out.

RE: Re: RE: Trailer lights
Frayed wire? Something rubbing when the trailer goes across the bump is the likely cause. How often does it blow? If it happens every time you tow, try turning your radio off in your truck, and see if you can hear the pop when it goes. If it happens when you hit a bump, start looking for a broken wire.2001 Ski Nautique / 2007 SV211 TE (gone but not forgotten)

RE: Re: RE: Trailer lights
Fuses blow because of too much current flowing through them. Too much current is almost always due to a shorted wire somewhere, creating an easier path for current flow than to the light. I would start looking at wiring first, see if something has rubbed through the sheathing and bare wires are exposed.2002 Super Air Nautique
