 RE: Removing old stickers/decals

I removed mine using hot air from a hair dryer to soften the decal as you gently peel it off.
Depending on where you are located at this time of year, I am not too sure if this would give you enough heat if you attempt this outside in a cold environment.2010 Ski Nautique 200 Team Edition Open Bow, Radar Strada

 RE: Removing old stickers/decals

What color are your hullsides. High pigmentation colors like reds, blues, and blacks will have a halo or ghosting effect that is much deeper than lighter colors like yellow green orange and the tans. It also depends on how often you waxed your boat and if it was stored out in the sun. I would not recomend an eraser wheel because of the likelyhood of burning your gelcoat. The best was is def. with heat from a heat gun or using decal removing chemicals.

 RE: Removing old stickers/decals

I'm in a similar boat (pun intended!) with the dealer delivery checklist decal under my engine hatch. All the other safety decals came off easily with a hair dryer, but this one is a gnarly, stubborn thing and I've tried all sorts of methods. Now it's a 1/2 torn up mess!

Are the eraser wheels for drills available most anywhere? Anyone else had luck with them? I've tried multiple chemicals and heat hasn't worked.'08 Super Air Nautique 210

Try "Goo-be-gone". you can buy it at Home Depot or similar. Apply it to a sponge or rag and wipe it over the decal and leave it there for a while. They will be easy to peel and then it will clean up with soap and water and is biodegradable. Safe on fiberglass and gel. I used it to remove the registration stickers which are normally tough to get off.Eric Fox

 RE: Removing old stickers/decals

the eraser wheels will not burn your paint or gelcoat.........if used in a cordless or corded drill it is impossible......i run mine with an air compressor......works very much better and faster. you can pick them up from a paint/auto body shop....maybe even autozone.........mine is from snap on.......most major tool company sells the things.......cost is around 30 bucks.very good investment!!.good luck

Im from Australia- I ended up using a product called Wax and Grease Remover.

This product is absolute gold. I had a heap of stickers to get off- 2 which were particular stubbon. 1 of which wouldnt come off with the hair dryer. But A couple of Soaks with this stuff, and I was able to remove.

I have heard of this product called Presol before.

 Thanks for everyones help.

 Re: RE: Removing old stickers/decals

FYI, it is called Goo-Gone. I worked at an electronics repair facility while in College, and we used the stuff to clean all kinds of parts that were gunked up by auto dealer's parts department. A few of us called it Goo-B-Gone, and some kept razzing us since that was not the name. After that we started writing in the B between the two words and started giving them a hard time.Originally posted by efoxTry "Goo-be-gone".

A smart entrapanuer could start a new company and call it Goo-B-Gone, and everybody would think they were the original.

RE: Re: RE: Removing old stickers/decals

Ok to remove and what about to put the new ones?
A friend told me that the best way is spraying the support with water before place the sticker. That should allow moving the sticker to his right place.
Does anyone have tried this method?
