Repairing a 2002 Starboard Keypad 6293

jpwhit clearly has some experience in the electronics/semiconductor industry which is where I come from. I tried mightily to reverse engineer the "Faria Serial Bus" and essentially failed. It's probably some derivative of CAN but without ANY documentation it's near impossible. I recorded a bunch of messages on a logic analyzer between the gateway and the gauges and couldn't figure it out. I suspect it's similar with this "Omni-bus" protocol. For the keypads the best approach is likely take it apart and clean all the contacts, if that is even possible. If there are any electrolytic capacitors in there replace them.

I think the main question in terms of the key switches, is the circuit board potted on that side? And if so, how are the switches embedded in the potting and what type of switches are used.

We really need a donor keypad or two to dissect. I have no dog is this hunt as my boat's newer. But it's a worthy quest to find ways to resurrect and save old stuff.
