Pulley squeak on a 2018 SN

    Hi All,

on my 2018 SN 200 (H6 motor) I have a pulley or accessory squeaking at idle after the boat is warmed up. 620 hours, regular maintenance performed, I replaced the serpentine belt already and that didn’t fix it. It sounds like it’s coming from the alternator but I can’t be sure?

any ideas? I see in the manual to check the alignment of the pulleys, how do you that?

    thanks,

    JMO

I am not familiar with your engine's setup, but did you check the idler / tensioner pulley when you had the serpentine belt off? I usually check mine when I have the belt off to check / service the water pump impeller.

Thanks - I just took the belt off to check each pulley by hand. Here is what I found:

      1. The idler pulley closest to the RWP has a definite wobble but no squeak.
      2. The pulley for the alternator definitely squeaks, but no wobble.

i hope the pulley/bearing for the alternator can be swapped out without replacing the alternator itself? Anyone know?

I cannot open the video, but it sounds like you have two issues. I would definitely replace the wobbling tensioner assembly. The bearings in the alternator (both front and rear) can be replaced by a qualified shop if you have one around, but a new alternator means less downtime. I would start by replacing the tensioner assembly, as it should not wobble. See if that cures your problem.
