    Fuel Pump Issue??

Hi all. Looking for some troubleshooting advice. Pulled out our 2000 Sport Nautique last fall after it had set for a couple years. Had trouble getting it started initially. Replaced spark plugs, spark plug wires, etc. Was getting good spark but boat would turn over and not start. Finally one time it did start so I dropped it in the water and took it for a ride. Boat ran great for about 40 minutes and then died on us in the lake. After setting for about 20 minutes my wife suggested the safety/kill switch. We messed with that a bit and the boat started and got us back home. Over the winter, I replaced the safety/kill switch and pulled the FCC and replaced the fuel filter. That was quite a bugger getting off. I had to pull the whole FCC unit and finally took it to my car mechanic who used a big pipe wrench to get it apart!

Anyway, come spring here, I pulled the boat out again and have the same issue. Boat turns over but won't start. It is not getting fuel to the engine. The kill/safety switch is working as when i disconnect/connect it, I can hear the fuel pumps engage. Wondering what to diagnose and check next. Thoughts?

Thanks. I always appreciate the help from this forum. It has saved me many trips to the dealer.

Hi all. Never mind on this one. I figured it out. I took the fuel control cell back off to see if the low volume fuel pump had been pumping gas into it (which it had) and discovered a disconnected wire inside the FCC to the high pressure pump. I had a small leak where the wires to the HP pump entered the FCC and had installed a repair kit from Nautique Parts. The spade terminals on the repair kit were smaller than the old ones. They semmed to fit tight but obviously did not. I took a needle nose pliers and tightened down the lugs on the female side of the connection so they fit tighter. Hopefully that fixes things!
