2006 Nautique 226 - How Do I Pull The Port Engine Compartment Panel

I need to access the engine on the port side.

I can't figure out how to remove the port side two black engine compartment panels.

There is a panel on the walkway that has 4 phillips screws that may have a role, however the screws simply turn, it appears that there are nuts on the backside spinning with the screws. WSo removing the white walkway panel requires removal of the black engine compartment panels.

The starboard side has an aluminum bat across the top which unbolts and makes removing the black panels easy.

The port side panels are under the fiberglas body surrounding the engine compartment.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I got the panel out using a window glass suction handle, leftover from a shower enclosure install.

My boat is a Limited Edition, with a single battery. I'm going to install a dual battery setup that charges both batteries, but isolates them when the engine is off. That way I can hang out under the stars for hours with the stereo on and a glass of wine in hand, and have a boat that starts when it's time to head in.

I'll post a writeup and pics when done.
