G23 Ballast sensor failures. Possible causes?

    Gang,

I just replaced my third ballast sensor on my 2022 G23. So far, I've replaced both rear sensors and now the port-side supplemental.

Does anyone have any insight into what's causing these sensors to fail? I'm going to be out of warranty soon and these sensors are pretty expensive.

On a different note than Charles, this issue has been going on with Nautique ballast sensors for at least 10 model years. Why can't Nautique correct this issue or completely rework/redesign this system? The fault percentage is just horrendous on these boats. If I had to guess, ballast sensor failure is by far the number 1 repair required on these boats.

As noted in another thread, I had 3 fail simultaneously at the start of the season on my 2024. Given the newness of the boat and the fact that all three failed on the first use of the season, I'm wondering if in my case it involved the dealer winterizing the ballast system. But like Charles, would love to hear some other's insights.

I wonder if they're freezing due to a little water being left in the bags. Maybe that's killing them?

Charles - that's certainly a possibility, although in my case the dealer ran antifreeze into the ballasts when they winterized the boat. It was the first time I had a dealer winterize my boat (belt and suspenders with the new ride) - on my previous G21s, I did the winterization, but never put antifreeze in the ballast system. I had several of the 'old style' ballast sensors fail on the G21s over the years, but never had the new style fail, until this spring after picking up from the dealer.
