    water in the boat

    Hi guys,
just bought a 2006 SANTE 220, i noticed some water coming in the boat so i drained it with a water(vacuum cleaner) I noticed there was water coming in via the thread of the (IRMAR, hand tighten) knob at the bottom of the boat, it is not much but every time we take the boat for a ride there is water on the bottom. Any ideas how to solve this??
On the picture its the one at the bottom of the picture that is leaking water.

If the threads are leaking, Teflon plumbers tape would be a simple fix. Any hardware store will have it.

The AirMar sensor is in a sleeve that is mounted through the hull. If you unscrew the ring you can pull the sensor out of the sleeve and you'll see the o-ring on the sensor. Obviously, do this when the boat is out of the water. If the leak is between the sleeve and the sensor, then you probably need to replace the o-ring and I would lubricate it with some type of silicone base lube before mounting in back into the sleeve.

The threads having nothing to do with sealing, they just hold the sensor in the sleeve. So putting teflon tape on the threads won't accomplish anything.

If the leak is between the hull and the sleeve, then that's a lot harder to fix. The sleeve is mounted into the hull with either 3M 4200 or 5200 marine adhesive / sealer. It's really tough stuff to remove. I doubt it can be done without destroying the sleeve. So the fix would likely be to buy a new sleeve and re-mount / seal it into the hole in the hull after removing the current sleeve.
