Ballast Pressure Sensors - New Model Failures?

    All,

I've been having an issue with the ballast pressure sensors on my 2024 G23 all season. Every time I restart the boat (just on and off with the keypad, not dependent on a battery switch 'reboot'), either 2 or 3 of the ballast bags (both rears and sometimes one of the supplementals) read 30% - 50% full, when they were previously emptied and reading 0% when the boat was powered off. The voltages are likewise ready funky on the Power Diagnostics page.

I've gone into dealer settings and both reset the timers and verified that all pressure sensors are set on the new Nason unit selection. As relayed in another post, the Linc system is fully updated. Batteries are good, etc.

From appearances, these symptoms appear identical to the old unit ballast pressure sensor failures that used to be fairly common. I'm just surprised to be seeing this with a 1-year old boat, and with 2 or 3 sensors simultaneously. Has anyone else run into this with newer boats? Any ideas? I'm wondering if this could be related to the something the dealer did during winterization - everything was fine all last year, and this was the first time that I had a dealer winterize the ballast system.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Yep. I had to replace both rear ballast sensors this spring. They were both coming up with some random number on every reboot.

Charles - thanks for the response, that's a bummer. Seems weird that 3 would go at once, after only one year and ~150 hours of use. Also disappointing that the 'new' models (I know they've been out a few years now) are having the same issues as the old ones. Such a pain, as we have to fill everything to 100% then empty to our set levels in order to know how much ballast we're carrying.

Back to fighting with the dealer to schedule the warranty work...

BasaltRMK Eventhough Charles had 3 fail, the 2 in the stern generally fail first vs the one towards the bow because for the most part the bow sensor is generally "High and Dry" from water

Uh oh, that doesn't sound good. I'm not ready to play that card yet. But I do have one marked of in my NP Wishlist (maybe I'm setting myself up for failer here).

My dealer is pretty good about trading me parts for pictures under warranty if I'm willing to do it myself to speed up the process. I don't know if I would want to tackle that on a '20 plus with supplementals, they have either made it an easier process or a nightmare.

GMLIII - thanks for the input, makes sense.

Scooter G - pun intended, I'm in the same boat. I've swapped 2 of 3 of the rear sensors in my '18 and '20 G21s (was a pain but doable), but never in a new model G23 with the supplementals. Has anyone done this themselves? If so, how was it? Thinking I might do the 4-hour roundtrip (plus actual work time) to the dealer to have them do the replacements, once I fight and convince them that yes, this is a warranty issue.

            Thanks all.

Yea, I replaced both of my rear sensors myself. It isn't an easy job, but I managed to get it done. They're in a very tight spot with little room to work.
