    2013 SANTE 230 W/ LINC 2.0 & Zero-Off Speedometer Issues

    Hey everyone,

I’m hoping someone here can help me troubleshoot a speedometer issue I’ve been having with my 2013 Super Air Nautique 230. The boat is equipped with LINC 2.0 and Zero-Off GPS speed control.

Lately, I’ve noticed that the speedometer readings are jumping up and down randomly, even when the boat is running at a steady speed. The fluctuations are pretty significant and definitely not reflective of actual boat speed. This obviously throws off the Zero-Off, making it tough to maintain consistent speed while pulling riders.

So far, I’ve tried shutting down and rebooting the LINC system, but unfortunately that hasn’t resolved the issue. The problem persists whether the boat is idling or underway, and it seems completely random when it starts acting up.

Has anyone experienced this before with a similar setup? Could this be a GPS antenna issue, a problem with the LINC display, or maybe even a wiring/connection fault somewhere in the system?

Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    -Nick

Could be a lot of things, but most likely a problem with the GPS puck. It's more than an antenna, it's a whole GPS unit in the black puck mounted on the boat. On MasterCraft displays, there is a GPS Diagnostic page on the HV700 screen in the diagnostics menu. Can't remember if there is the equivalent page on the LINC (HV700) screen on the Nautique. But check and see if you can find one. It would show details about the GPS such as how many satellites it's locked onto and other details.

If your boat has a paddlewheel as XBIGPUN66 points out, that may be a more likely cause than the GPS puck. I can’t remember if there’s a way to get the LINC to use speed info from GPS instead of paddlewheel, because that would be a good test to confirm the problem. Maybe unplug the paddlewheel and see what happens.

Hey guys sorry for the late reply. The boat does not have a paddlewheel so I am thinking it is the GPS puck. I reached out to Zero Off as well and they said I need a new puck. Wanted to confirm on here since I didn't know if Zero off just wanted to take my money. I may take the puck off and toss in some rice to see what happens since we are about to sell it and I don't feel like spending 600 bucks lol. Thanks again for all your help, will update if the rice works.

Putting it in rice isn't going to do anything useful. It's sealed puck, it's not like a phone that just fell into water. It could be the puck, it could be a CanBus communications issue, it could be another device on that CanBus disrupting the bus. Of course Zero Off would say just buy a puck, that's the easy answer for them. You need to diagnose the problem systematically and fix it. Otherwise when someone comes to test drive / inspect the boat, they will just walk away. Not a good thing in such a down boat market like this.
