Hi Everyone,
I drained my block and exhaust this past weekend and installed DIM's quick drain valve set on my Excalibur. I had these on my old ford motor in my previous Nautique and they were quite handy. I also replaced the curved hose from the thermostat housing to the circulating pump with the cast red pipe (along with associated hoses). I don't know why the 03's did not come with them? This was not a fun job...if you want details, I can provide. Anyway, this has a drain plug, which I installed a quick drain valve on too. However, the knock sensor is a pain to remove to drain... Has anyone 1) thought of placing a small brass 'T' between the sensor and the block? This way, you could encorporate a quick drain but still have the knock sensor attached to the block. I'm not sure how sensitive the sensor is and if it would cause problems. In theory, any mechanic 'knock' noise would travel through the small brass piece and be sensed by the sensor. 2) Anyone thought of having a welder tack a fitting to the side of the block so the sensor would fit there and not in the drain plug? Seems a bit extreme, but would save a pain when you want to drain your block.
Thanks,
Dave
