What exactly is pathetic about rushing to winterize ahead of the storm? Once we hit a certain time of year (usually December) I start draining every time I go out. But there have been plenty of times I’ve had to rush to the marina to drain the block ahead of freezing weather. It’s like a 30 minute job. No big deal.

Back in October Buxton reached out and said they had 1 more remote service date available for Texoma in early November for winterizing, and since it would be at least a 1.5 hour trip each way to get the boat and take it to the dealer then return it to storage I said sure and had it done then... not like we were going to use it between now and early March. I am getting the itch to get back out there especially after the last few days of 65-70 degrees.

Yeah, here in MN, I get worried if I push winterizing out past early October. It's -3 F here right now, but at least the sun is shining.Originally posted by GMLIII View Post...but in the mid-Atlantic, it is far, far past the time to make that important decision
This past week or so has been really tough--lots of boating dreams. Just another 3.5 months to go...
That reminds me that my Mazda needs an oil change. It still has a dip stick. It's looking a little warmer next week, so it should be tolerable.

Keep me out of that group. I just got rid of my last dip-stick less German car. BMW made a big deal of the non-BMW oil filter installed by may favorite mechanic. This was after my 3rd major oil leak each running over 3000 to repair each time. German manufacturers think anyone other than a certified tech is qualified to add air to a tire. My under warranty Mercedes was in the shop so often I got tired of dropping it off so often that I dumped it. My last three Ford trucks have been so problem free at 100,000 plus miles that I do not see German engineering in my future. Oh my boat...moot point, not winterized, but I don't think South Florida will every get cold enough for that to be an issue. Soap box over.

Ha,ha maybe in Texas you can decided whether to winterize or not winterize right now but in the mid-Atlantic, it is far, far past the time to make that important decision

Winterizing
This will be short and sweet... I haven't been on the forum for a few months, but marvel at those hurredly trying to winterize or those who choose not to at all. I'm talking about my geography, Texas. Weather is coming folks. Pathetic.
I'd add that I'm on the Mercedes Benz forum discussing the fact that the Germans have eliminated oil dip sticks. The same people who are happy about this are the same people who don't winterize thier boats. Tell me I'm wrong...Last edited by RDT-G23; 02-01-2022, 09:47 PM.Tags: None
