2016 G23 H6. Replaced a failed alternator, experienced loud chirp. I reset serp belt, checked all pulleys (confirmed smooth and tight), fired back up and there was knock seemingly coming from crank. Oil pressure is ~15 psi. Any suggestions on next diagnostic steps?

If its knocking with no belt there's internal issues and I would no longer run it until I figured out what it was. If oil pressure is that low then the pump is failing or something is stuck in the pickup screen. Stupid question but you checked the oil level right? Last oil change?

15 psi oil pressure while running a full engine load? I’m an old petrol head and the rule-of-thumb was 10 psi oil pressure per 1,000 RPMs. If you really are only running 15 psi then you may have a rod knock and an engine that’s about to implode.

I think the H6 might be more like 15-20psi per 1000 RPMs. I don't pay much attention at idle, but surfing at 3400 RPMs, mine is around 65 psi.Originally posted by Jonny Quest View Post15 psi oil pressure while running a full engine load?
