    2017 GS20 occasional no-start, helm panel dead

Boat has 119 hours on it, bout it with about 90 hours on it last September. Has run flawlessly until this weekend.

Cruising around a while after surfing, anchored up at the sandbar. I'm a little paranoid about running the battery low, so I usually shut it down completely (but do not turn off the batt switch unless we are putting it up for the weekend). after about an hour, it was time to leave, so I punched in the code to start it, dash lights and helm panel come on, when I hit the start button, we get a loud click from the engine bay, and everything goes dead, including the helm panel. I could not find anything tripped. we had no power. After flipping the batter switch and the helm panel breaker a few times, we got dash lights back, and tried again. same result. after a few more minutes, got dash lights back, this time I turned off the bilge pump, and was able to get it started.

we then cruised over to the community pool for a drink, and same scenario leaving, except this time, turning off the bilge pump made no difference. It appears the loud click is coming from the starter solenoid. after a few attempts, if finally started. When we got back to the dock, I could not replicate the problem. it started up several times without any trouble.

We've dealt with bad starters and solenoids on the 2004 SN 206, other boats, **** other cars before, but have never had it kill all power to the dash. Is this a starter going bad, or do we have a gremlin somewhere else we need to chase down?

has anyone had anything similar to this?

Sounds like your battery is ready for the grave. Put a tester on it.

was reading another thread, and i'm starting to think that may be the issue. still kind of wondering about that relay click in the engine bay. but i suppose if volts are dropping, weird things could be happening.
