2002 SN on CorrectCraftFan needs help

Jeff, The is a thread by Skier4life04@gmail titled “2002 Ski Nautique” in the “engine Repair” forum that is having difficulty with an apparently non functional original and new start/stop key pad. If you had the time to go on CorrectCraftFan.com and read the post and report any thoughts back here I am sure he would appreciate it. I hope my request from you is not “out of bounds”. If so I apologize ahead of time.

I went over there and responded. Not sure how much help I can be though. The guys over there seem to have the same thoughts that I do.

I do wonder how/where the boat was stored all those years, and if an animal got to the wiring.

Thank you for your input and efforts. From my understanding in his effort to enter his primary code he has been first entering the master code then pressing buttons 1 and 4 to then go through the process to enter his code. Then owners manual clearly explains the procedure and does not include entering the master code first. The only time the master code is entered first is to erase previous codes.

But a new keypad doesn't have a Master Code.

I was under the impression that the master code was “ingrained” somehow in the boat ie: the ECM or the like. And when a new key pad was install the original master code was still applicable. Is my current understanding incorrect?

Yes, that is incorrect. The codes are stored in the keypad.

Thank you. That being the case then does the newly entered “primary code” serve as the “master code” for the purpose of deleting previously entered codes.

Jeff, Skier4life04 over on CorrectCraftFan is still struggling with his new key pad. He had 12.3v at the red wire to the key pad. 12.3v translates to a battery that is 50-75% charged. Though I think 12.3v should be more than enough, how’re ever’ reading and passing the information from a post on this site by Pat-Oz titled “Key Pad Not Working” posted. November 22, 2004 brought that into question and he subsequently be placed the battery. He has not posted the voltage at the red wire to the key pad after the new battery yet. The question has come up concerning the other wires coming out of the key pad namely the black, green and orange wires. If the new key pad is in fact functional, and assuming the black wire is ground, logic would conclude he should be getting voltage out of the orange and/or green wire (one is possibly to the ignition and the other is possibly to the starter (just a guess)) when he presses the start button. I would be happy to get behind the dash of my 2006 (assuming my key pads wiring is at least similar) to check the voltage however I am 2000 miles from my boat and won’t get to it until the end of May. The question is if you would be able/willing to do a voltage analysis of the wires before and while pressing the start button on the key pad on one of your boats recognizing yours is not the same year key pad as his. The general information gathered may provide a clue and lead him to the answer.
