Our 2006 206 limited with the PCM 330 has an intermittent no start condition. The battery has been replaced, and the starter was replaced. When I replaced the starter, I expected the boat to start. It continued to just click. I obtained a few more tools to continue attempting to diagnose, and I was getting 12.6 at the starter from the batt + cable.
I expected to see 12.6 at the solenoid when attempting to start, I did not. I forget what it was reading.
Both battery cables ends look a bit chewed up, as if someone struggled to get them off at one time. BUT, I have had them off numerous times, and they seem plenty tight to make a good connection and perform their job. When I did not see 12 v at the solenoid, and I kept getting the click, I zeroed back in on the cables. The positive passes under the deck before reappearing and going to the starter. There is a smaller gauge red wire that comes off the large red positive that goes to the starter. I was unable to determine where that went to.
I managed to get the boat started again after yanking on the red positive that heads back to the starter. I feel like there is a bad connection, or a loose wire or something. The boat never acted up for the remainder of our trip. I am sure it will again, and do not want to wait to find out when. My thought it to replace the positive and negative batt cables. Does anyone know where that smaller gauge red wire goes?
Anyone have a wiring diagram for this boat? OR can offer some insight? The first time this happened was over memorial day, and we then took the boat to the marina, and they were unable to re-produce the condition. We used the boat for almost a week before it acted up again...that is when I jumped in and started attempting to repair - as the marina had no availability being the day before the 4th.
I probably shouldn't have just started throwing parts at it initially - but I have limited tools at the cabin and can spend some serious time chasing them down. Lesson learned...oh well starter and batt should be trouble free for the foreseeable future!
