    V-drive and gearbox removal

Are there any threads on here that show how to remove and replace the v-drive and gearbox on a 2007 SV-211? Last year I hit a submerged log and it sheared my rudder off and bent my prop, strut, and shaft. I replaced it all and boat was running great. This past Sunday I was pulling the kids heard a pop and had no propulsion. Prop is fine and shaft is not broke, engine idles perfectly fine with no vibration but nothing happens in forward or reverse. I don't know if I damaged something in the v-drive are gearbox when I hit the log or if it's something new. Does either the v-drive or gearbox fail more often than other (is one the weak link)? Oil level was good in both. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I assume you have, but just in case, did you make sure the transmission linkage is still working first?

Yes, check it and it's good. I was running when we heard the pop and lost propulsion, thanks.

I bet your damper plate let go. It bolts to the flywheel and receives a splined shaft in the middle (from the v-drive) with springs to dampen the shock of putting the boat into gear. Good news, if that's it - it's not an expensive part and it's easy to replace... (here's the bad news)... once you remove the v-drive.

The little splined piece in the middle is welded to the plate and if it took a huge shock last year, it could have weakened the welds to the point that they "almost" let go, and now they finally did.

Beyond that, I doubt there's a lot that's specific to the SV-211 as far as getting the v-drive out.

functionoverfashion, thanks for the info, makes sense and sounds like that could be it.
