    Transmission fluid...yet another question

    Hey guys,

I’ve searched this and can’t really get the right answer.

For the 2007 PCM tranny the manual states to use Dexron III. I’ve read here that DeX/Merc is equivalent.

I have access to Dexron III / Mercon V both Valvoline and Castrol. But Valvoline also has DeX/Merc which is different container?

Is there a difference where I should pick either Dexron III or DEC/MERC??

While we are at it, any preference between Valvoline and Castrol?

Valvoline Dex/Merc works and you can get it at Walmart or most auto parts stores

I went with a true Dexron III on my PCM. Found some and ordered on Amazon cause I could not find any locally. Just didn't want to risk having any issues, tho I also read certain Dex/Merc trans fluids are compatible.

GM stopped certifying Dex 3 awhile ago, dex/merc is the same spec, they just can’t use the dex 3 label.

Dex 6 is the replacement, fully synthetic, but PCM has never signed off on running it in their trannies so most people run Dex/merc.
