Situation: 2000 Super Air runs great, coming to dock to change out riders, engine idling, lowering rear hatch, as it closes everything shuts down - luckily short paddle back to dock. No power to dash at all (tried keying in code several times, never get a light on keypad at all, no power to horn, radio, or blower), kill switch properly connected, transmission in neutral.
Checked the following: Battery shows 12.4 volts, have full 12.4v power to starter relay, replaced battery with spare and cleaned all connections no difference. Checked main grounds to block (three or four black wires bolted to rear of block) and cleaned connections. Pulled dash checked power to keypad module tested across red and black terminals in plug going to keypad - no power. Pulled kill switch - continuity across switch when depressed, no power through purple wires connected to switch. Neutral safety switch - continuity across switch. Checked fuse at positive battery terminal, tests ok. Tested all circuit breakers under dash - nothing thrown. Tested all 3 circuit breakers on motor, all seemed ok (Queston: 60 amp does not push in at all is this normal?)
Replaced starter relay last week with new one from Skidim to eliminate the chronic click no start problem. Worked great. Have now retested all connections to make sure nothing came loose and cleaned contacts.
Any ideas would be appreciated, its a long pull to the dealer.
Thoughts:
If the new starter relay went bad I should still get power to dash it would seem.
It would not seem to be a blown keypad unless my testing method as explained above was wrong.
Have not tested the 60 amp breaker, do these go bad and how do you tell?
Could one of the relays be the problem, if so how do you troubleshoot these?
Could the main board have have gone bad (probably big $$$)?
If it is a wiring problem any ideas on how to trace it, since I have power to the starter relay, but not to the dash it would seem the problem would be along the wiring branch to the dash?
Many thanks for thoughts, I am baffled at this point.
I have lurked at this board for a long time and always found it to be very helpful in fixing the problems many of us share, this one seems to be a bit unusual.
