Hey Blamey, the shop told me they really only change the V-Drive oil if it looks like it needs it. The boat has 420 hours on it. It had 400 when I bought it and had the fluids changed then, should I have them do it after 20 hours of use?

Just how do you tell by looking if it needs it ??? Walter recommends you use a non detergent oil for their v drives, non detergent oils do not hold contaminates in suspension they will settle to the bottom. I change mine every year, Walter recommends after the first 100 hours and every season and/or 500 hours. O'Reilly auto parts can get Valvoline 30w in a day. Since you just did it I'd wait til next yearLast edited by gary s; 09-22-2017, 10:50 PM.

Thanks Gary. Like I said, I'm brand new to boating so I was just listening to what he was telling me. Thanks for the heads up.

Brother, MUCH of that was do to you going to take a look at it for me. Who knows how that may have ended up if you didn't take the time to confirm everything for me. I'm so appreciative and some day I'll buy you a beer (even if I have to drive into Ohio). I had so much fun and more importantly, so did the kids. The family (and some of our friends) really learned how fun and enjoyable it was to be on the water all day in a solid boat that can do lots of different things (surfing next). Much thanks.Originally posted by hondaprlud View PostGlad to hear you had a great summer Mike!
