Last year that last couple of time I was out surfing mostly and at high speeds I would notice the engine cutting in and out like it wasn't getting the fuel it needed. I am itching to get the boat out of storage but can you guys tell me if its the big fuel filter in the black canister that I need to change or is the issue something else. I have own the boat for 3 years and just started this issue end of last year.

If the FCC Filter (in the black canister) has not been changed in 3 years or longer, I would definitely start there and replace it first. If the boat is acting like it is starving for fuel a free thing to check/clean is the anti siphon valve, it should be located at the top of the fuel tank right after the elbow as the fuel pickup comes out of the tank, it is a little brass fitting, take it apart and make sure it is clean and free of debris.

There's an entire thread on Correctcraftfan devoted to troubleshooting the GT40, but having had the same exact experience after having replaced the fuel filter in the FCC, and still experiencing this, I traced it to the low pressure fuel pump. Once I replaced it the starvation was solved.Originally posted by ohiowake2Last year that last couple of time I was out surfing mostly and at high speeds I would notice the engine cutting in and out like it wasn't getting the fuel it needed. Same here. And on my previous boat I had a similar issue as Quinner described. Two of the first things I'd check.Originally posted by Tryathlete View Post

Thank for the info guys. I will check to filter and siphon valve once I get boat out of storage and then after I get it out the first time I will see if its the low pressure fuel pump, unless there is a way to test the fuel pump with out being under load in the water.

You can get a sense of the low pressure pump working or not as you should always hear it come on when you turn the key from off to run, before turning to start. The pump should run for about 2 seconds. You can try cycling the key a few times to confirm you can hear/feel the pump coming on every time. If it doesn't could be the pump or the relay that controls it. I had an ongoing relay issue on my last boat with GT40 causing the pump to intermittently fail - very annoying! I believe there are fuel pressure test points on the fuel rail where you can attach a fuel pressure gauge so you can monitor fuel pressure. I think you should see the required pressure here with key on but engine off. Might give you an idea if you can't start up the boat yet.Originally posted by ohiowake2 View PostThank for the info guys.
