    Spring Detailing

Saw some old threads but wanted to see what products people are using for detailing. Boat is in good condition and want to keep it that way. Is there anything special to use on seadek? What about the Hull, waxing before first use?

Thanks! Hopefully only a few more weeks!

I just put in a big order from Babes Boat Care Products. I have not used their products before, but I purchased based on lots of good reviews. So we'll see.

Hi I just finished using the 3m Perfect it for gel coat compounds with their dual sided pads. Worked like a champ.

I have put two coats this winter of 3M Marine Ultra Performance Paste Wax Part Number 051131, 09030, then a wipe down of 303 including the upholstery and Golden's Amazon teak oil on the teak deck. I have been using the 3M wax and Amazon's teak oil for many years and been very happy. The 303 is not a new product but new to my arsenal of tools. I have been very impressed with it. It not only has a great reputation for sun protection but it also takes away static cling. The 303 can also be used on the gel coat post waxing, to remove the static cling. 303 also makes cleaners and fabric protection for the bimini. The only place I was able to order all of the 303 product line was West Marine.

Yep, 303 Vinyl Protectant. That stuff is amazing. Every boat and car manufacturer recommends it.

Best Wax out there is Collinite 885 Paste Fleetwax, never tried the 3M JD mentioned but have used all the other top ones and Collinite is the best hands down!!
Vinyl cleaning my first choice is ZCare LVP Marine or the babes stuff works well also. Best bang for the buck is the dollar store Totally Awesome however for the more soiled areas. As mentioned, best Vinyl protectant is 303.

How easy is the Collinite Paste to buff off? Some waxes are so hard to buff off that I would rather not use them. My theory is that I would rather apply an easy on/easy off wax 4 times a year than a hard to use wax 2 times a year.

I have tried lots of waxes (never tried Collinite though) and I always seem to come back to regular old Nu Finish because of ease of use. It goes on easy, comes off easy, lasts a long time, and can be applied in the sun on a hot surface.

I do agree that 303 is the best thing for vinyl.

I trailer my boat to/from the lake each time we go out so I wipe it down as soon as I pull it out of the water. I always use a spay-on wax as you dry product when I'm wiping the boat down. Its cheap, easy to do, and maybe extends my waxing intervals.

I also trailer my boat after each day and head back to the campground. When we pull the boat it is wiped down first and then followed up with Babes spray wax and wiped down again. I hope this is the best thing to be doing. I also use Babes on the vinyl as a cleaner/protectant

Shady, it goes on/off very easy as long as you do it in sections as recommended. Give it a try, don't think you will be disappointed!!

I like the chemical guys products. Easy to use, not terribly expensive and the spray detailer smells really great!

I clean interior with Spray 9 and then coat with 303 weakly and use 3m marine liquid wax on hull which lasts a couple months. Heard good things about collinite, but the 3m liquid wax works good and buffs really easy so I haven't tried it yet.

I use boat bling hot sauce and vinyl sauce. The vinyl sauce is the best i have used for cleaning and conditioning. I am still deciding on the best wax to use.

Same as peter43. Had used Maguires Marine quick clean and quick wax in the past. Really like the quick clean. Z Care and 303 aerospace for the inside. Buddy of mine in GA recommended Boat Bling. Absolutely blown away by how good the stuff is. Vinyl sauce, conditioning sauce for inside and hot sauce for quick clean on a new 17 G23. Won't look back. If you have questions you can email Zach, one of the owners and he gets back to you within a few hours and offered to take me out if I am ever in PHX.

I've recently started using boat bling from reading good things about it. And the products are great ! I highly recommend

Performance Boat Candy, Speed Gloss after each time out. http://www.performanceboatcandy.com.

+1 for collinite paste wax a couple of times a year.

A's Totally Awesome followed up by some 303 protectant is also good when the vinyl starts looking dingy. Dilute the A's and use a scrub brush and you will get dirt out you didn't know was there.

Been using Babes Conditioner for maintenance of the vinyl, and have no complaints.
