New power and ground to dash on 1999 SAN

I was hoping somebody with knowledge in this department could save me some investigative time. I have heard that the power and ground cables to the dash on the 99 SAN were on the under gauged side. I would like to replace mine since I have been having intermittent problems through the years with low voltage at the dash console. Especially, after adding perfect pass and upgraded stereo head unit. There are no dash wiring diagrams for the 99 SAN online and Correct Craft said they did not have one either.

Can anybody tell me how the power and ground cables are routed to the dash? I am guessing they are in the bundle running up the starboard gunnel.

I believe you're right. It's the shortest path to the helm. Actually, if you run power to the helm you'll bypass the bilge/all on/all off switch on the side. I did this but, it doesn't bother me that I don't completely shut off the boat. The + wire should really be run to the switch and then another wire from the switch to the helm.

If I were you, I would just run a dedicated power to the head unit, if you think that is contributing to your problem. That seems much easier than trying to re-wire your helm.

I'm not necessarily trying to rewire the helm. I am just trying to replace what is most likely a 16gauge wire with something more substantial. Especially, since I believe the entire dash runs off that one lead from the back to the ignition button.

I have, on older Nautiques, just ran a dedicated ground directly from the battery to a new ground Bus Bar that I mounted in a location where I could then run multiple grounds to. pita but worth it imo...

I am in the same dilemma with my 99 Sport. My radio will cutout at higher volumes. I'm pretty sure it's due to a lack of power to the dash since I'm running the radio and a smaller 4 channel amp directly off the dash.

A couple of years ago my horn quit working so based on research here I ran separate power/ground wires to a relay for the horn so it only draws signal from the dash.

Since I ran 10g power and ground I plan to tap into that line for the constant power to the stereo and amp under the dash. I think that will solve my stereo issues and will be a good power source when I add perfect pass later on.
