I know this topic has come quite a bit, but was wondering if anyone has any advice on new batteries that will be reliable, be cost effective and fit in the boat?
In terms of fit...just measure the space and get the largest battery that will fit the space. Most likely group 24 or group 27.
AGM batteries give you virtually no benefit unless you need to lay them on their side because of space restrictions. They cost more...and typically have less storage for a given size.
I'd suggest lead acid with a decent warranty. They're cheap and easy to replace. Where possible, a marine starting battery for starting and a deep cycle (not a hybrid marine deep + start) for the stereo. The hybrid for the stereo would be your second best option. "Marine" batteries supposedly are more resistant to vibration, etc., that you find on a boat. But I'm skeptical.
For your stereo bank, the best setup is banks of 2x 6v golf cart batteries. Wire each two in series and banks in parallel.
I always install a Blue Sea ACR. It automatically isolates your starting battery from your stereo bank when the motor is off. And I always put the batteries on a charger between trips to keep them charged and in good condition.

FWIW, Interstate does not make batteries. It's a marketing and distribution outfit. They use Johnson Controls batteries. You'll get a similar or exactly the same product at Costco, Sears, Walmart, etc. Just a different label.
