    Replacing G23 impeller

Anyone done this themselves? Id like to check the impeller and see if that is the cause of our over heating issues.

Im assuming you need to loosen the tensioner, then loosen the 3 hex bolts behind the raw water pulley and that should separate the casing allowing me to check the impeller?

Definitely time to change. But, I would surprised if your engine overheated with that level of impeller damage. But it certainly needs replacement and hopefully it resolves the overheating.

Yea thats what im not sure about? I cleaned out the strainer and checked the impeller to find that damage... basically temps were fine, until we started moving past idle.... guess we will find out tomorrow

I would definitely replace impeller. Since you lost very few pieces, there is likely no down stream clog. Start motor, make sure that you can see water moving in the strainer, and watch temps closely. They will climb fairly quick until the thermostat opens around 168 then they will stay at 167-168 or some times fall a bit. If temp hits 170, shut down motor. You actually do not need to loosen or remove the tensioner (you may know this by now). It is spring loaded and you can push it toward the motor to loosen the belt and reeve it from the water pump.

Is that the original impeller? Only asking as there was a deffective batch of impellers (non-PCM OEM Parts) sold by NautiqueParts early last year and I was the disappointing customer of 2 and numerous headaches associated with them. I will never purchase a PCM part unless it is in the PCM packaging. Lesson learned the hard way.

It was the original. We replaced it, and still had the overheating issues. Pulled the boat out to take it to the dealer and sure enough the whole intake was covered in weeds / leafs... Cleaned it up and ran the boat for a while at riding speeds / wot / idle and the temps were fine! Thanks guys!
