    Very nice Sound_Illusions!

After seeing yours done, mine comes off this weekend.

I guess I was a bit chicken of taking it off more than anything...

Is there any adjustment in the frame? I ask because the center window is a bit tight and has been rubbing the drivers side section. I would like to widen the gap so it won't do that anymore.

ST: The window dosent seem to have any adjustment's. I have not put it back on as of yett because Im doing come projects that the window need to remain off. The bottom of the window has screw's that go threw the window and into the top deck. these holes have no adjustment. so as far as I see it the window should go back on the exact same way it came off and in the exact same position. If you need to adjust or move your window then you should slot the holes in the window frame so you have some adjustment to move the 2 larger window frames apart from the smaller walk threw window frame.

You can adjust how the window fits by just putting the screws in a new place on the deck. Remember to predrill and chamfer the holes though. This is how the dealer makes the adjustments.

SkiTX, b4 redrilling ALL new holes u can re-install the w/s keeping the screws loose. Adjust as u like & then tighten down, starting @ the screws on each side of the walk-through area.

            Some tech talk.

First of all. the bonding of paint isnt easy on aluminium due to the natural oxide film. So a not common primer should be used. Who knows?
Extrusion profiels cannot be sanded on the inner, thats a problem.
Aluminium is a perfect patrner with other metals for electrochemical corrosion, that will happen. Only when moistured.
Corrosion gets under the paint, first due to paint defects and moisture, corners, drill holes and so on.
When this is started moisture is easily kept under, so the bladder is easily getting larger.

So powdercoating stays longer but not forever. When moisture gets under, it will start the proces, Peeling isnt easy because of the multiple film thickness. Powdercoating is done electrical, all difficult spots are evenly layerd, also edges and holes are layerd.

I use that pipe insulation on my bow grab handles so that when I put my tower down it lays on the ins. instead of the bare handles. A 6" piece on each side works great!!

After removal, does the windshield have to be further broken down to remove glass or can the PCer mask it off?

When you take the window off YES you have to take it all apart its 10 total peice's No big deal it goes back together better than it comes appart.
Just lable the window rubber so you know what rubber go where if you have basic skills its a real easy job. (if you can post on the Internet you should be able to take your window off then appart and then back together)

I thought I might revisit this thread. I visited my boat (in storage) a few weeks ago and took a look under the bow to see how I might go about removing the windshield. I couldnt find any bolts coming through underneath as I expected- and the sides (undersides of gunwales) were filled with foam.

Does the foam need to be removed, or are the fasteners secured from the topside? This didnt seem to be the case, but it wasnt exactly clear :?:

Id like to have my windshield powerdercoated at some point- Grant's looks great! Anyone take a windshield off an early 90's Nautique?

I took the window off CAR's SAN it came off in 3 min. Its so easy. Just remove the window supports. then remove the foam at the bottom of the window it will reveal the stainless screws that hold the window down. Thake the screws out and the window will need to be un-stuck from the deck a nice pull from one side will do it. and your reddy to go.

I did a search and found a post by DavidF:

It appears as though the fasteners may all be accessible from the top side on the early '90s boats. I hope that is right- Id rather not remove that foam!

                        Thanks for the tip!

I'll be PCing all metal components on the boat as soon as my powder shows up. Next to get PCd is the rear air vent covers, boardracks and boardrack spacers.

Chris- I just had my tower and speaker cans done while the boat is at Grant's. I didn't order the cans done from Boss cause I didn't want two different colors but since I was having the tower redone I figured why not do the cans too. Here is what the cans look like after PCing them.

The rubber strip at the bottom of the windshield hides the screws

Has anyone powdercoated their windshield frame the same color as the boat? I would like to see how that looks.
