Do I need PCM plug wires for a GT40 or will Ford automotive ones work as well?

Thanks - Any chance you happen to know what part number or what year Ford and model will cross in?Originally posted by surroundsound64 View PostAuto is fine in this application2004 206 Air Nautique Limited - Black with Vapor Blue (family style)

When I tried to use automotive wires on my Excal 330, they were too short to fit around the risers. Not sure if this is an issue with the GT40, might be worth taking your old set with you to match lengths to avoid two trips to the auto parts store. I'm guessing a good place to start would be to check the wires for a 95 Mustang GT with 5.0L. Or maybe a 93 Ford Lightning.

Well, have to say I punted on this and ordered PCM wires from Nautiqueparts. At $55, the likely savings was not significant enough to do all the futzing around to figure this out. For grins, I may take my old wires to my parts store and see if they can match them just so we can ID what make/year/model auto plug might fit.2004 206 Air Nautique Limited - Black with Vapor Blue (family style)

It's most likely a mid 80's Bronco with a 351. The 5.0 Mustang wires probably would not fit because the 302 is narrower than the 351.Originally posted by SilentSeven View PostWell, have to say I punted on this and ordered PCM wires from Nautiqueparts. For $55 you did the right thing. Have you ever seen cheap plug wires on a car at night put on an electric light show? I don't know that PCM wires have any special insulation, but I would hate to have a fuel leak and find out the hard wayOriginally posted by SilentSeven View Post1997 GT40 if it helps.

You saved yourself some trouble for sure. It's not hard to find the 8mm wires off the shelf, but finding them in the right length with 90 degree boots on both ends is tricky. Best bet is to go to a race shop and have them custom cut. But at that point, I'm not sure you're saving much.1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.

Actually, I'm pretty sure these are OEM from PCM. My current wires are likely original, are stamped PCM and are 8mm silicon wires. Decent ones for sure.Originally posted by surroundsound64 View PostFor $55 and if you aren't stuck right now, I would have ordered the OEM as well.
After doing some price checking on likely automotive substitutes, they were all in the same price ballpark or more. This particular part does not seem subject to typical 'marine part tariff' you can see on other items.2004 206 Air Nautique Limited - Black with Vapor Blue (family style)
