What size staple to use for new trailer bunk carpet

I guess I could go pull one out and go to Home Depot, but I thought someone here might have some experience with it - maybe a box lying around. I was thinking 1/2" stainless. The Monel staples are supposed to be rustproof but read a review that they're not supposed to be used on pressure treated wood.

I'm replacing carpet on both bunks. Any idea how many staples this will take?

The last time I recarpeted I used 9/16 Monel using grey runner carpet I bought at Home Depot. It has lasted 5 years so far. I used runner carpet because my bunks are 14' long and all the bunk carpet I could find was in 12' rolls. The runner carpet is runner backed and thicker so I went with the 9/16 staple.

my local shop gave me a couple rows of galvanized for patch work. I think they are close to 3/8". Check out http://www.mcmaster.com/ for staples.

I just replaced all boards and carpet on my trailer and used Arrow T50 3/8" Heavy Duty (Monel) staples

How many staples did you use? Is one box of 1000 enough? I can't find any stainless (or even Monel) locally, so I'm going to have to order from Amazon.

Yes 1 box is enough. For my 2 bunks, guide pads, and front pads I used about 1/2 box.
