    Faria Gateway Box 2003

    Hi hopefully someone can help!

I have a problem with the Faria Instruments / gauges on my Correct Craft Ski Nautique 196 Limited 2003.
All was working fine then suddenly the low voltage alarm came on and the volt gauge stopped working. The depth gauge also stopped working and is turned off. I have tried to turn the depth gauge back on with no results. I have checked the charging system and all is working fine and the boat is running brilliantly. Also when I turn the engine off using the keypad the speedo stays live with ‘s’ or ‘p’ on the screen! When I turn the main power supply isolator off (next to the seat) the gauge goes off and stays off when I turn the isolator back on. As I have already said the boat is running fine and charging the battery. I just need to stop this alarm flashing on the screen. I contacted Faria Instruments last year regarding the problem and they suggested an electrical spike may have caused the problem, taking out some of the sensitive electronic instruments. They suggested changing the Gateway (black box) and maybe the main speedo!
I personally believe that I have a wiring issue and somewhere on the boat maybe a short making the gauge stay live and that would also explain the low volt situation. i.e. the instruments are not getting the proper voltage that is why the low volt alarm is flashing and the volts gauge is not working. Depth gauge is a different matter and one I don’t understand. I appreciate I have given everybody a lot to take in, but if anybody could suggest a starting point, or some checks I can do to determine the source of the problem I would appreciate it. I live in the North East of England and towing the boat to my nearest dealer is a big trip!
Any help to stop the alarm flashing would be appreciated as it is starting to become a pain in the backside!

    Best regards

    Richard

I would start by removing the box and inspecting it for any water intrusion. Additionally make sure all the connectiones are clean and seated properly.

Had a box go bad when water from the pitots did not self drain (as they are supposed to) iced and backed up onto the circuit board, dash wash very crazy when that occured, alarms, gauges not working, etc.

Factory Depth gauge runs through the gateway, so if not plugged in properly or a bad CB, you could have issues.

Hi Thanks for the help, depth gauge is factory fitted so everything is pointing towards the gateway box. The cost of a new box in the UK is £960 pounds = $1400 dollars, any suggestions of a supplier that would ship a replacement box to the UK would be appreciated.

      Best regards

Check with Nautique parts ^^banner at top of page^^ or N3 in Indy, probably the best 2 dealers with regards to parts and both will give you a discount if you ask, don't know if Ski Dim would have this part.

There was an ad here on PN for one being sold recently, could be worth a search.
