How much clearance does everyone have between their prop gaurds and props? I have a Ramlin trailer that scrapes quite a bit on my driveway and I have about 5 to 6 inches of clearance for the prop. I will be raising the gaurd up in the off season by cutting the bottom peice off and welding a new peice higher up. I was thinking 2 inches, but don't want it to too close. If this doesn't fix the scraping, I will add casters, but I would rather not.

I think I had 7/8" on my old MC trailer. Going to 4" ought to be fine in your case.1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.

Edit: I actually have about 4" of clearance to the prop and less to the rudder. The clearance may be a little less as the boat drives onto the trailer. 1 1/2" is sounding safe and reasonable going by your responses. Thanks for your replies.
