I have a 2006 220 w/ the zr6. Last month I installed a hot water shower. I used the standard aquatik shower kit from skidim.com. I tapped into the bottom of one of the headers for hot water. It's warm, but not exactly hot.
I'm in the process of adding a 10 plate heat exchanger (http://www.amazon.com/Plate-Heat-Exc.../dp/B0039WRQGC) inline with my closed cooling (off the lines that run through my hot air blower) - I'm hoping that will significantly increase the hot water temperature. It's probably going to be a few weeks before I can get back to the project. I'll let you know if it helped!
I'm planning on doing a writeup w/ pictures on this board sometime this winter.
I am not 100% sure on this, but if the raw water flow on a ZR-6 engine goes out of the heat exchanger, and then onto the exhaust manifolds, and then out the exhaust system, would not the warmer water coming directly out of the heat exchanger be even cooler that it is in the exhaust manifold?
i found a manual that says to use hose 1 witch is the hose from top of water pump to heat exchanger for shower supply and hose 2 witch goes from bottom of heat exchanger to bottom of water pump for shower return line.
anybody have the hookup connections for this motor. does the water get warm enough to make it worth it. if it never really gets too hot, you could eliminate the the hot/cold controls and save some money because it would always be on all hot anyways.
I have not have had any experience doing this, but I think your best option would be to draw warm water directly off the exhaust manifold.
You need to be aware that removing some water at that point will reduce the amount of water flowing through the exhaust system, and the exhaust system will run hotter when the shower is on.
I have an 2004 zr6 with a hot water shower. It gets hot but really how hot do you want it? The motor runs @ 160 deg F. The hot water comes of the header and as long as you raw water pump is good you will have no problem running to hot. Really how long are going to run it anyways. Who wants to shower with lake water anyways. Its great for warming up wetsuits and feet on cold days but other than that not much use.
