clarion head unit question for 2003 SANTE

Factory cd player is dead. Need to find a replacement that will work with factory installed wired remote by the steering wheel. My dumb arse self threw the old one away before snagging the model number off of it. I don't care about getting the same one which is probably impossible anyway. I just need one that will work with that particular wired remote. Anybody able to help me out here?

People for some reason dont like that head unit. Maybe cause it doesnt have a ipod hookup or wahtever, but they typically sell them on here pretty cheap. I think one guy was selling it for like $40. It sounds like it will do what you are looking for anyway. I would go that route. If mine took a crap, I know I would.

Oh yeah and it is the XDM1 I think.

Check out the Clarion CMD5 which is what most people, or at least I would say most, replace the stock unit with. I just replaced the XMD1 on my 2001 SAN with the CMD5 and it works fine with the wired remote. They're usually a decent price on ebay.

I replaced mine with the CMD6, which I am happy with. My only complaint is that you cannot control certain iPods from the iPod itself. Not sure which models though. You will need to make or buy a faceplate adapter for it. Earmark sells them

My CD-Player drive had died also. Here is the model number if this is the same unit.

i just finished replacing my xmd1 w/remote on my 03 with the cmd5, as it is the last clarion deck that will allow you to use the same dash remote wire that is already there. the cmd6 looked good, but would require a new cable to be run, so for me it wasnt worth the trouble. i did use the adapter plate clarion makes for going from xmd to cmd ... also, my xmd1 and remote both work and are in good shape if anyone is interested, would let them go for cheap plus shipping. are just like in the attached pic

i think it was a XMD2 or a 3 i found one on Ebay
