Fumes from Fuel Filler Hose or Vent Hose?

I have my rear seat out to do some cleaning and add another Simer pump for ballast. If I stick my nose near the fuel filler hose and vent hose, inside the boat, I get a light smell of gas. Since they are both on the same side, it's hard to pinpoint the smell. Is it common for either of these to crack or degrade over time (15 year old boat)?

yes it is. you should only smell the vent on the outside, if you are smelling something inside then a hose is bad or you have a loose connection.

Which one would be more likely or more common to go bad? I'd rather start with a common one, since I have a 50/50 chance of picking the failing hose.

they're both the same age and made from basicly the same material and simular wall thickness so your guess is as good as any if your going to be cheap, but they both need replaced and don't forget about the fuel lines maybe the issue as well.

Yeah, I'll just order both hoses when I figure out the length tonight.

I replaced the fuel line when I added a fuel/water separator recently.
