    Perfect Pass Wiring Q

I am putting an older PP Wakeboard pro system into my 93 Nautique. The older instructions say that I should be able to hook ring terminals onto the posts fo rthe tach.

Here's my dilema. My Tach has spade conenctors and lots of them. Can anyone provide some clarity?

    Thanks!
    Brett

I am pretty sure that the purple wire is is one you want on the back of the tach. Get some 3M splices that will accomdate 3 wires, cut the purple wire, put both ends in and then the PP wire. Get the ones with silicone in them. Don't know the part number, but I use them on trucks all the time. Available at NAPA or any decent auto store.

What about using something like this?

This is my opinion. 3m makes a lot of good stuff, but the tap splices are junk. Do not use them. They cut some of the copper strands in the wire you tap into, and the wires are already too small to support the load of additional accessories.

The Perfect Pass servo motor uses a lot of current when it operates. If the power and ground wires are not sufficient size, the voltage to the Perfect Pass drops off, and then the Perfect Pass shuts off.

I would connect the Perfect Pass power wire as close to the ignition switch as is possible, in the purple wire. I would also run a dedicated ground wire back to the engine, or battery, and not use any of the dash wiring for the ground.

Thanks Daniel. I guess I am a bit crossed up here.

I appreciate the input on the ground and power wire. I will follow your advice.

My main source of confusion is the RPM sensor input. My tach has the push-on style conenctors above and I wanted to know if using this style of conenctor would likely work? I'd prefer to try this before cutting into the harness for the tach.

The "piggyback" male spade connector on a female spade will work just fine. The tach signal is just that, a very low amperage signal, no real curent flow.

Thanks again Dan. I appreciate the wisdom.

(I guesss I am happy that I strung a few extra wires between the dash and motor. It makes the ground that much easier...)
